Slope collapse damages vehicles and fencing at Kawasan Perniagaan Nilam in Kajang
KAJANG, Oct 12 — A soil embankment and slope structure collapsed along Jalan Nilam 2 in Kawasan Perniagaan Nilam late Monday afternoon, trapping parked vehicles and destroying perimeter fencing, according to resident reports and video footage shared on social media platform Threads.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. following heavy afternoon downpours across the Hulu Langat district.
Video clips recorded at the scene by social media user @miowkumbang16 depicted a substantial section of the retaining earth wall giving way, dumping soil, concrete debris, and metal safety barriers onto parked cars below.
Ground impact and vehicle damage
At least two passenger vehicles—a white sedan and a dark hatchback—were partially buried or struck by falling soil and debris as the earth slope collapsed into the lower parking bay adjacent to commercial premises.
“Attention Kajang residents,” user @miowkumbang16 wrote in the viral Threads post accompanying the video. “There was a new soil structure collapse that just occurred at Jalan Nilam 2, Kawasan Perniagaan Nilam around 5:00 p.m.”
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud crack before the slope section slid downward, tearing apart metal mesh fencing and spreading earth across the access road. No immediate casualties or injuries were reported at the time of writing.

Local authority response
Emergency responders, including the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) quick response team and local Fire and Rescue Department officers, were alerted to cordon off the affected site and assess structural stability along the slope perimeter.
Municipal engineering personnel are expected to install protective tarpaulin sheeting to prevent further erosion from ongoing rainfall while conducting safety evaluations on neighboring commercial buildings.
Local community representatives advised business operators and motorists in Kawasan Perniagaan Nilam to avoid parking adjacent to high slopes and retaining structures during heavy afternoon thunderstorms.
