Budget 2027 guarantees social justice and living comfort for all, says PM Anwar

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 10 — The newly tabled Belanjawan MADANI 2027 was formulated to guarantee living comfort and social justice for all Malaysians by addressing both strategic economic growth and the daily needs of diverse communities, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a report by state news agency Bernama today.

Speaking during a special interview broadcast on national television network Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) at Kompleks Seri Perdana on Saturday, Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister, emphasized that national policy cannot focus solely on macro-economic indicators while overlooking ground-level realities, Harian Metro reported.

“In any planning, the ultimate goal is to guarantee the living comfort of the people… we want a system that ensures comfortable and fair conditions for everyone,” Anwar said in the RTM interview.

According to the report, Anwar noted that while Budget 2027 cannot solve every issue overnight, it represents a decisive government effort to ease financial pressures on households across all socio-economic strata, including gig workers, food delivery riders, persons with disabilities (OKU), and pet owners.

Balancing rural livelihoods and urban realities

As reported by Bernama, Anwar highlighted the importance of addressing specific grass-roots challenges, such as income constraints faced by paddy farmers and coastal fishermen navigating limited fish stocks and licensing hurdles.

“In urban areas, we do not have paddy fields, but we know that people in paddy farming regions still face challenges, while some coastal fishermen lack licenses,” Anwar explained during the broadcast. “To issue licenses, we must consider limited fishery resources.”

According to the news report, the Prime Minister stressed that the government must find balanced solutions that provide livelihood support to rural workers without compromising ecological sustainability.

‘Reaching the Sky, Rooted in the Earth’

The Prime Minister explained that the MADANI Economic Framework continues to align high-impact development aspirations with everyday needs, in line with Budget 2027’s guiding theme: “Menggapai di Langit, Mengakar di Bumi” (Reaching the Sky, Rooted in the Earth), as reported by Harian Metro.

“All of this falls under living comfort and social justice—not for just one group, but for everyone,” he added.

According to government reports, the Prime Minister presented the Supply Bill (Budget) 2027 on Friday, featuring a total federal allocation of RM459.8 billion. When combined with RM25 billion from Government-Linked Investment Companies (GLICs), RM11 billion in public-private partnerships, and RM14.2 billion from federal statutory bodies and MoF Inc., the overall expansionary fiscal policy reaches RM510 billion.

The fifth budget under the MADANI administration aims to translate economic growth into better wages, efficient targeted support, and stronger fiscal discipline, according to Bernama.
